Today, I researched my painting on Wikipidia. I found out when and where it was made; Greenwich village, immediatly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. And I think that these two aspects are very important to the story of the painting. As i mentioned earlier, I find this to be a very depressing painting, and this time period fit that mood very well.

I agree with your analysis so far. I too think the mood of Nighthawks is depressing, but with a strange undercurrent of hope...
